The metamorphosis of luxury, between metaverse and environmental awareness
Luxury in transition was the theme of the last Centre du Luxe et de la Création Summit which explored areas of luxury changes highlighted by creator and entrepreneur testimonials.
Today, the world is shared between the virtual space whose ultimate extent is the metaverse and the reality of the planet and the responsibility to protect it. However, life is more powerful than virtual reality. It was to push the boundaries of the material that the human species has developped an outstanding adaptation capacity. There is nothing like this with digital that the creator uses as a tool or a material, like iron, wood or modelling paste to nurture and express one's creativity: it allows to draw influences in real time from around the world, to view one's work in augmented reality and to promote one's creations on the web.
Fashion stylists and designers have an increasingly appetite for ecofriendly material and sustainable creation. The corporate social and environmental responsibility has been integrated into the annual reports. The Café Joyeux in France whose waiters are moderately disabled persons and the Nomad association which reintegrates refugee craftmen who have fled their country because of war, bring social inclusion in the heart of society. The awareness that the planet's resources are limited has paved the way to the circular economy.
Luxury is beauty, and beauty is something that transcends and uplifts: strong in its uniqueness, luxury is directed toward influential customers and has a responsibility and a role to play, to reinvent a fullfilling and balanced universe where sustainability will become source of inspiration.
