Founded in 1475, La Rochère is the oldest glass factory in Europe. It creates table ware collection for every day, in partnership with designers. It is ISO 9001 certified since 2003 and classified Environment since 2008; the 10-year review is in the process of being validated by the Administration.

The glassworks, for filling with food products are manufactured lead free. The main part of the utilized consumables (glass, cardboard,wood, PVC, oil, scrap) is recovered or recycled, either directly in the manufacturing process for the glass, either through outside companies.

The factory complies with the European gas emission allowances, by adapting its energy sources for the manufacturing: due to large investments, it has implemented an electricity supply system for its energy ovens and abandoned the use of fuel oil and gas which allowed it to reduce by 50% its CO² emissions for the past five years.

The company has invested in a closed water loop to reduce its water consumption by 50%. For several years, it has regularly affected human and technical means to develop scoreboards and monitor sustainable progresses. It plans eventually to develop a global monitoring system of the sustainability, for the whole manufacturing process.
