Handmade tin dishes, made in Colombia
The appearance recalls dishes in the 1950s in Europe and the manufacturing process has remained the same since generations.
At first there is a steel plate that has to be molded to become dishes. They are plunged several times in an enamelling bath then fired at a high temperature. All the work to give the form to the objects is handmade, each piece is unique.
In the 18th century, dishes were made of cast iron, which released toxic residues under the influence of heat, that blended with food. Stainless steel was discovered in the 19th century. Today, dishes are handmade in Colombia, with the age-old practices and traditional methods used when the production began in Hungary.
