Luxury natural candles that tell the story of Versailles

arty-fragrances-small.jpgHistorian and specializing in the palace of Versailles, Elisabeth de Feydeau(*) tells of the history of France through the scents. After having worked for Chanel, and then for Diptyque, she decided to invent candles which did not exist.

At first, odours have to be pleasant, may not trigger migraines nor lessen the sense of smell. The list of olfactive components has been checked by a doctor, to ensure that there was no toxicity nor unwanted side effects upon the human body.

Manufacturing is devolved to a perfumer in Grasse, who work traditionally, all in ecologically approved quality and the woven cotton wicks are lead-free. The development of a candle is long and determined by the size of the wick, to slow down its burning. Each candle has a different colour, depending on its natural components and the containers are made of mouth blown glass in Poland. We only produce limited edition of candles, to ensure a complete quality control.

Thought is actually going into giving a second life to the glass containers, by collecting and sending them to Grasse, to be refilled.
